Used materials

K259 Nameplate 4
P149 Enamel powder dark blue opal
KC287 Cloisonné wire round 1 mmCounter enamel powder

Nameplate

Name plate 1
Start to make a design on the computer and print it.
Here I just only use my second name, however you can decide whatever to use.
If your name does not fit on the plate you can order a larger plate.
The letter type I have used here is Comic Sans MS of 26 points.

Clean the plate with sandpaper and degrease it.
Apply counter enamel on the backside and burn it.
Clean the firescale.

Name plate 2
Clean the copper wire and degrease it.
Straitghen it so it does have any wrinkles.
Fold it over the letters.
Use pliers with no tooth to do this.
Some letters to can fold in 1 piece, other ones have to do in several pieces.
You can see on the pictures how I made the letters.
Now flatten every end of the pieces with a file.

Name plate 3
Here you can see how the letters are made.
All the ends are flattened.
Sift a very thin layer of counter enamel on the plate.
Use tweezers to position the letters onto the enamel.
Please be careful.
If you are done you can burn the nameplate in the kiln.
The letters will be glued on top of the surface.

If you are not able to get the above done you can try the following.
Burn the thin layer of counter enamel.
Use Cloisonné glue to position the letters.
Burn the nameplate.

Name plate 4
This will be the result after burning in the kiln.
Clean the letters with a copper brush.

Name plate 5
Now make enough wet enamel and wet pack it all over.
Make sure there is enough enamel into the gaps of the letters.
Place aside to dry.
When it is completely dried you can burn it.

Name plate 6
When it is cooled down you can sand everything with a sandstone.
Sand the layer glass from the top of the letters.
Sand even so far that the round copper of the letters will flatten.
It cannot harm when you make scratches over the blue enamel.
At last you can you use some fine sandpaper to smoothen the copper bright and shiny.

Name plate 7
Here I’m done with sanding.
The letters are bright and smooth.
Some enamel is scratched.
Burn the nameplate again.

Name plate 8
Now the nameplate comes shiny out of the kiln
The letters are rising slightly above the surface.
You can remove the fire scale either with a pickle bath of use fine sandpaper.
Do not forget to clean the sides.
And ready is the nameplate!!

HAVE A LOT ENAMEL FUN.
